Description
This pen is turned from Spalted Beech with a gold finish fancy slimline pen kit and an added white Celtic knot detail. The spalted beech is turned and sealed with sanding sealer and then sanded down from 240 grit, through the grades to 1000 grit. Two coats of EEE paste wax is then applied, buffing between each coat. A further two coats of shellac friction polish is then applied buffing between the coats. This gives a hard wearing durable finish while still retaining the natural feel of the wood.
Wood is a natural material and the colour and grain of the wood will differ. This is what makes each pen unique! Spalted timber is prized amongst woodturners. Spalting in timber is a result of fungus growing on the tree after it is felled.
